Moral of the story is if you ever work at an aquarium..make sure not to hit the glass with your mop while singing. Second moral of this story...if you do run into a situation like this one, get to the yellow pages!
This commercial relates to all ages, races, the whole world! I believe this is why this is such a great advertisement because it does relate to everyone. Everyone at some point in their life will have an emergency situation and need to contact help.
I know what you're thinking. "Hello we have smart phones, computers, ipads, google, etc., why do we need a phone book?" My answer? When if one day we no longer have the ability to access those materials (2012...just sayin')? In reality that is never going to happen but the point of this commercial is to remind you that we still do need to use phonebook in case of emergencies.
Sure we go to the movies for entertainment, and to get sucked into lives we wish our lives could be like. But there are some movies that we get so sucked into that we can believe that that life is actually real...and actually is sometimes. No I'm not talking about movies where aliens come into the world and try to take over, or superheros saving us in situations (that never happen in a daily life by the way).
Now I'm not bashing these movies by any means because lets face the facts, we all wish that could be our lives once an a while. But there are some movies that suck us in and it just seems so real.
When I was in high school with my mom that took me by complete surprise. It was so realistic in the way these people's lives were and I wanted nothing more than my future to end up like theirs...kind of. It's a movie about relationships, and no not ones that only happen in movies. Girls that are obsessed with guys that will never like them. Then you have the couple that has been together for years but they man has yet to propose. Also you have the girl that just doesn't care and sleeps around.
And the movie is....
What is so perfect is simply everything about this movie. It's as if the creators captured all single/married/confused men and women's dating lives and put them into a movie for all of us to enjoy. This movie goes to show that yes movies are enjoyed by taking us out of our daily lives. But that doesn't have to be done by having big heroes and explosives. Directors can take our daily lives and turn them into something we could never imagine.
When we were children, the most exciting thing we ever learned, was how to read. Yet, now the most exciting thing is how to learn how to read through a computer, tv, and still some books. Some believe that now reading is a 'myth'. That some children will never pick up a good book and curl up in the blanket and get lost in there mind while reading. I believe this is totally false.
Although I'd give anything to just be lazy and read a book...when do I have the time? When does anyone have time? Times are changing and evolving to things we could have never imagined twenty years ago. It's not that no one does not want to simply flip through a dictionary and find out how to spell deoxyribonucleic acid, when you can just look it up on the internet.
People are not losing interest in learning, they are just finding new ways to go about it. Technology evolving has done nothing but help children really learn more ways to learn besides sitting in front of a text book for hours doing homework. And the best part is that they really do enjoy doing it!
Although me and my brother were not so close when we were kids, the older we get the closer we get! And I love that. There is only a 15 month difference between us so were pretty much twins..minus the red hair (yes it's still that red ha). It's hard to see him now that I don't live with him and he is going to a school 6 hours away! But we still communicate everyday and i love him for that!
I asked a good friend, "When I say reality what comes to mind?" She replied, "Well first I think of reality tv! Like MTV or Jersey Shore! But I guess you could think of it 'realistically' (no pun intended) and say that it's like growing up." But what exactly is 'Reality'? According to my reliable source google; reality is defined as all of your experiences that determine how things appear to you. Yet according to another internet source; reality is defined as the state of quality of being real. But if reality is being real...is that not being realistic? Hence, realism? Realism is defined as - the tendency to see things how they really are. To me reality and realism go hand and hand.
A&E: Real Life. Drama. One of A&E's most popular programs, Intervention, is about the realities facing addicts of many kinds. Each program follows one of two participants; each with their own addiction. Every addict believes that they are being filmed for a documentary on their problem. Their situations are actually being documented in anticipation of an intervention by their family and/or friends. Each addict has a choice..go into rehab immediately, or risk losing contact, income, or other privileges from their loved ones. Often other tactics are used to persuade the addicted person into treatment, these vary depending of the situation. Some of these include; threats to invoke outstanding arrest warrants, apply for custody of their children, foreclosing on the addict's property, and break-up of marriages or other relationships. Of course by the end of the episode your dieing to know if they recover from their addiction: The producers usually follow up months later to monitor the addicts progress and film it for "follow-up" episodes of the series.
Although this show is 'reality tv' this is REAL LIFE. There are millions of people that go through addiction everyday and just because they don't get the chance to be on intervention doesn't mean they don't get help. I believe that if anything this show inspires people to fix their lives, to start fresh again, to get a second chance at life. Every time this show premiers there is a family out there watching and wishing that their loved one could be helped. But this show shows that it is possible!
"Intervention showcases individuals as they self-destruct and this draws people into watching the show." Says Matthew Gilbert a television critic from The Globe. Seeing a family and their loved one suffer brings in viewers. And not just that! The fact that we get to see what happens after they go to rehab.
Intervention is an amazing show that has helped so many people and it really connects with my personal life! I have had a friend go through an addiction and go to rehab. He has been sober for almost a year now. Although this addiction ruined his life..he is slowly starting his second chances and fix his life! I believe this show deserves their 2009 Emmy award for Outstanding Reality Program.
